4.20.00/Chat Manners: If you've ever been in an AOL chat room, or any chat room, you can see the stupidity. People do so many stupid things, well in my opinion anyway. Here, I'll discuss some of these issues, in hopes of making the people who do them, realize that its pointless. And throughtout this I will use "you". "You" doesn't mean that you engage in these activities, it just goes for all the lamers out there.
- Scrolling: There are different types of scrolling. Type 1 is to ask a question.

Did anyone answer this cretin? No. First off, if no one answers the question the first time it is asked, what makes you think that someone will answer it the twentieth time? Its pointless. Also, most of your questions can be answered on the web. For example, WebHelp.com allows you to ask a real person a question, and they'll find information about it. If its a file your looking for, just go to a search engine or keyword: Filesearch, and look for it! 99% of the time no one will send you the file if you ask, and almost always, no one will send a file if the message is scrolled. Type 2 scrolling is macros. Macros are pictures formed by line by ascii that form a picture when completed. These are accomplished by using a prog. Sometimes, these are ok. I remember a few years ago a macro that was the top half of a nude woman. That was alright, =D. But most of the macros scrolled are soo stupid. And even though the macro may look good on your screen, if the chat window is a different size on someone elses computer the macro will look distorted. Also, if your font is different than the font of the maker of the prog, your macro will be a different size causing it not to look the way it was intended. And last, if your screen names is over ten characters, the extra characters at the end of your name will push the macro to the right of the chat, and again, it will be distorted. So, the macro may look good on your screen, but on half the other people will just see a distorted ascii characters being scrolled and will think your a moron. And the last type of scrolling is "oh" scrolling. "OH" scrolling is really fast scrolling that lags everyone in the chat room to death. These scrollers can freeze your AOL for a few minutes if you have a slow computer. If you do insist on "oh" scrolling, don't continually do it. Its cool the first ten seconds but it becomes annoying as hell after that. In conclusion, moderate yourself if you must scroll because most of the time, scrolling never has the purpose that it was meant for.
- Lagging: Lagging besically means "going slow". Lagging in chat rooms is accomplised my mass scrolling, or my overloaded your text with html tags. Not only does it lagg the other people in the chat room but it lags the people sending it too. Chat rooms are intended to chat. Duh... If you lagg the room, you will instantly have 20 other people that hate you for life. You wont be respected ever again. That goes for scrollling too.
- A/S/L: Are people morons? Why yes, they are. Ages/Sex/Location, is the message that seems to plague AOL public rooms. Do people actually think that they are saying the right age? Especially right after you see a girl say "17/F/NY" and your some 13 year old living in California wanting to get some so you reply, "18/M/NY". In fact, I hate public rooms with a passion. Everyone just sits there trying to make friends by saying a/s/l and yet no one even tells the truth. As a test I went in public rooms and I'm men saying I was a lesbian. Almost every single one of them said they were a lesbian too even though his profile said he was a man. God dammit. I hate these people!
- Grammar: "How r u doin" - AOL beginners seem to think its cool to talk with this "ao-ebonics" as it has been called. Some people grow out of it, some still use it. I wont sit here and insult the people that do use it, because a lot are my friends. But, it does make you hell of a lot smarter if you use "you" instead of "u". Its just a suggestion to those of you who do.
- Idle Bots: "‹جي›–› dunk tank · idle: 0:32" This may not seem that bad but when there are ten people using an idle with a one minute interval it becomes annoying. There are other ways to stay online without getting kicked off. You can use an idle bot that click out of the Idle window. All this other idle crap is not necessary.
- "IM me if you have" People commonly say this when asking for something. Does anyone ever IM them? No. Why go out of my time to answer someone who wont take them time to search on the web for something?
